How To Refill An Inkjet Printer Cartridge Step By Step Installation

The rapidly falling cost of printers has created a scenario wherein most of the home/office computers are equipped with a printing device. You can get matrix, inkjet or laser printers as per your needs. As the matrix models do not have the capability of full-color printing, so the popularity if inkjet printers are skyrocketing with each passing day.

However, printer owners face the need to replace the ink cartridges-special ink container sooner or later. It is a costly option and not under the budget of several individuals. So, there are many companies that recommend replacing the purchase of new cartridges with ink already existing. Although, refilling an inkjet printer cartridge is not a rocket science. But, a good number of individuals face the problem. So, you need to follow the below-mentioned task to perform the task easily and quickly:

Things You Need To Refill Inkjet Cartridges:

  • Used ink cartridges,
  • Gloves (latex or vinyl),
  • Toothpicks (for color identification),
  • Scotch,
  • Paper towel and
  • Refueling kit.
Warning

Always keep in mind that refilling the cartridges deprives the printer owner of the warranty on the device. So, you must follow the recommendations and be careful to avoid the risk of damaging your printer.

Ink Refilling Process:

  • Just get a set of ink for refilling ink cartridges. You can purchase it from a stationery store, online shops, discount stores, and offices,
  • Collect your kit, roll of paper towels and take a small Scotch tape together on a large flat surface of the desktop,
  • Remove the print cartridge from the printer and do not forget to close your printer lid or door when you are working,
  • Put a pair of disposable latex or vinyl gloves on your hands,
  • Take a paper towel and you have to fold it in half twice. Work on a paper towel to find any leakage of ink,
  • Put an empty ink cartridge on it and read the instructions included in the ink cartridge refilling kit to know how to replenish your specific type of cartridge,
  • Just locate the fill holes on the top of the cartridge. You can feel depressions easily by rubbing your finger on the label. Some cartridges have more than one hole, but only one leads to the ink tank, which you need to fill. Always keep in mind that the hole will have a sponge in it,
  • Use a toothpick to pierce the filling hole at the top of the cartridge, or you can take the top mark with a knife or screwdriver,
  • Apart from the black ink cartridge, magenta, turquoise and yellow are 3 ink colors. Follow the installation instructions on which hole you have to push the toothpick and insert color for color identification,
  • Insert the long syringe needle into the ink bottle, fill the syringe with ink, the number of dice for each model of inkjet cartridges should be different. Be careful that there is no air and foam in the syringe because the air pocket will keep the ink from reaching the print head. So, the cartridge will not print,
  • Squeeze out the ink little by little and ensure that you do not overfill the cartridge,
  • As soon as you see that the ink from the hole dries a little, stop squeezing. Just draw a small amount of ink back out of the ink cartridge without releasing it and remove the needle completely,
  • Smear the contacts of the cartridge carefully on a paper towel. You will see a dirty leak paint stain on a paper towel,
  • Close the hole with a small piece of transparent tape as works better than the sealing points included in the kit. Make sure that the ink does not leak out of the holes. Be careful not to pollute the colors with each other,
  • Once you have filled all three colors again, blot the printhead cartridge on the folded sheet of paper towels. Do this until it stops the ink leaking, after which you will see a strip of three colors that appear on the towel,
  • If the stains show colors, or faded or not at all, blot with a damp paper towel and again on a dry cloth to get ink flow and insert the filled ink cartridge into the printer and never. Never insert a leaking cartridge and
  • Print anything to get the ink flow. Print a few test pages, preferred photos with lots of different colors to test your printer is working well and printing documents smoothly.
Final Words

Refilling an inkjet printer cartridge is not a difficult task. By following the above-mentioned instructions, you can easily accomplish the ink filling task without facing any problem.
